Circular Economy Approach to Dog Waste Disposal
What is a circular economy? A circular ecomomy is an alternative to a traditional economy of make, use, dispose, in which we keep resources in use for as long as possible, extract the maximum value from them whilst in use, then recover and regenerate products and materials at the end of each service life.
Streetkleen have partnered with award winning anaerobic digestion system developer Qube Renewables, to design an independent and modular waste conversion unit. Our goal is to provide a localised, robust and efficient small scale waste conversion solution, capable of providing an alternative disposal method for significant volumes of dog waste.
Our eco safe digester is user friendly that eliminates waste on site. Since the digested waste is converted into biogas, excess heat, CO2 and a nutrient rich effluent there is no waste to store or transport, no solids remaining and our patent pending pre-treatment system ensures that any liquid discharge into municipal sewer systems is inert and pathogen free.
What is Anaerobic Digestion?
Anaerobic digestion (AD) is an established technology. Simply put - AD is a series of natural biological processes whereby organic waste material is broken down by micro-organisms and converted into energy, known as biogas. As part of an integrated waste management strategy AD reduces the emission of harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
The re-use of organic waste material coupled with technological advancements is in line with the Government’s 2010 commitment to ‘introduce measures to promote a huge increase in energy from waste'.
